The Face of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin - Julia Stegner
July 5, 2009 by Brittany Dow
If anyone had been in Berlin from July 1st-4th they may have had the chance to catch Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. They asked German top model Julia Stegner to be the face of the event, and it seems to have been a perfect fit. She has an elegent look that reminds me of twiggy and in her most recent Hugo Boss campaign, she’s simply glowing.
Check out this interview with Julia for the kick-off for MB Fashion Week in Berlin:
Below are some behind-the-scenes shots from the Hugo Boss S/S ‘10 show that Julia was in.

TGIF Eye Candy - Gabriel Aubry Mmmm Mmmm Good
July 3, 2009 by Brittany Dow
So I thought I’d give the readers of modelstalker.com a little bit of eye candy to kick off the weekend. To be honest, my heart belongs to Danny Schwarz but in the spirit of Canada’s Birthday I’d like to give a shout out to Montreal born male supermodel Gabriel Aubry.

He placed second in the Top Male Icons on models.com, and it’s no surprise since his look is classic, strong, and masculine. Not to mention HOT! Considering he started as a cook in an East Side Mario’s kitchen, his career and personal life has turned out alright. Appearing in campaigns for Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, and Versace definitely earned him his iconic status. His relationship with Halle Berry has kept the paparazzi’s on his tail, and in every shot he looks scrumptious.
Enjoy Model Stalker’s, because I know I am!!!!

Agyness Deyn Hangs Up Her Modelling Shoes
July 3, 2009 by Brittany Dow
Ok, ok, I know everyone is blogging about this right now. But I think it’s a pretty big deal considering how fast Agyness Deyn emerged as a supermodel, and now to just turn her back on it!? Well, I can’t blame her, the paparazzi’s love her a bit TOO much. Since her moving to the U.S. the internet has been flooded with pictures of her going to the store or having coffee with friends, and for the most part she takes it all with a smile.

Sources say she’s moving back to the UK to spend time with her new beau, Last Shadow Puppets member Miles Kane. The gossip mill has also been spreading that she’s going to pursue an acting career, where she hopes to land gigs in indie Brit films. I don’t see the big deal in this, maybe all the American hype got to her, or maybe she’s home sick. On hollyscoop.com they argue that her moving back home is a horrible idea, and she’s going to get sick of her b.f. and want to come back to modelling. I love how people think that being in the limelight is the place to be, maybe once you’ve reached the top you just want to come back to earth. For Agyness, I assume she wants to get back to her roots.
For me, I think this is a great move for Agyness. She has that edgy look and personality which will easily land her some indie gigs. She will always be that model that I admired while she was the ‘IT” girl, who rocked her style with ease and enthusiasm. Even if she is no longer on billboards, runways, or fashion spreads she has definitely left an impression on the modelling world.

Iris Strubegger in Issue #60 of V Magazine: Exclusive Sneak Peek
July 2, 2009 by Brittany Dow
Her cheek bones could cut glass! That’s right, I’m talking about the hot, yet understated Iris Strubegger. This Austrian maven has a quiet, yet sleek look about her. She has angles rather then curves, and her poses emulate modern art. It’s no wonder she was picked up by Supreme Management in 2007 whose mission is based on an ‘artistic vision of intelligent beauty’. This beauty is defined by androgyny, strength, vulnerability, youth, masculinity, individuality, and honesty. It seems that the term ’androgynous’ is what the term ’subermodel’ was to the 90’s, and Iris locks it down.
Catch her in the latest issue of V Magazine where she rocks some classic essentials with an edgy twist. Photographed by Willy Vanderperre who captures Iris at her best. Not only do I want to get this look, but I want to frame this entire spread and hang it on my walls. Iris Strubegger, whether on the runway or in front of the camera, is a masterpiece of modern beauty.
Below is a sneak peek of Iris in ‘A Touch of Class’ from V magazine, issue #60. Like what you see? Well, you’ll have to wait until July 7th to grab a copy. In the meantime, enjoy!

O’ Canada: An Ode to Linda Evangelista
July 2, 2009 by Brittany Dow
In celebration of Canada Day, I decided to write about my favorite model of the 90s, it would easily be, hands down, Linda Evangelista. She’s a heavy weight champion when it comes to her career, and for someone in their 40’s she looks incredible. When I think of other supermodels from the 80’s and 90’s, well they just don’t add up. Her fan site alone is a homage to her greatness. She is known as the ‘chameleon‘ who transforms herself to fit the role, something she does with grace and sophistication!

She ranked #7 in the Top Icons category on models.com, which is no surprise since the term ’supermodel’ was coined after women like Linda. Her charisma, determination, and ‘unrivaled conviction’ has kept her in the limelight for over twenty years. On the runway her self confidence and poise is inspiring to all up-and-coming models. I think this MTV interview from ‘91 sums it all up!
Who’s your favorite supermodel of all time? I’d like to know.

More Then a Pretty Face: Erin Wasson as Model, Designer, and Stylist
June 30, 2009 by Brittany Dow
I love when I discover models who amount to more then just their looks. Take Erin Wasson for example, the Houston born, L.A. based fashion icon is making headlines as not just a mega supermodel, but as a stylist, clothing, and jewelery designer. She placed 19th on the Top Icon’s list on models.com, and has graced the runways of Armani, Cavalli, Chloe, and Lanvin. What she brings to the table is that classic American Girl look with a little bit of edge.

But aside from modelling, she has been involved with several extra curricular projects. For two seasons she acted as stylist for the hot new designer, Alexander Wang . The two share a similar west cost, surfer style and succeeded at producing some killer images. Check out some examples of their collaboration here. Her second major project is her collaboration with lifestyle and surf company RVCA. The women’s collection is called ERIN WASSON X RVCA, and reflects her personal low-key, rocker style. My favorite piece from the collection are a pair of leather shorts featured in the February issue of FASHION magazine. Thirdly, her designer sensibilities extends into jewelery with her release of LowLuv. A heavy metal collection of bangles, rings, and even metal suspenders. She rocks!

He’s Charming and He’s Beautiful: Danny Schwarz Takes the Spotlight
June 30, 2009 by Brittany Dow
I guess by now you’ve noticed I have a thing for new talent. It’s because the modelling industry is such a revolving door, and I find it exciting to see whose going to be big next. In the world of male modelling, a certain handsome fellow caught my eye. He goes by the name of Danny Schwarz and he was placed in the top 10 on models.com. Everyone wants this charming Brit to walk their runways and pose in their ads.

Since being signed in 2008 by VNY Model Management in New York, his career has taken off. In 2009 alone he has walked the runways of Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, and has posed for Vogue, Missoni, GQ, and Esquire. That is only a peek at what this model has done, and I can imagine there is a lot more ahead for this bloke. Check out more photos at nymag.com.
Below: Video’s of Danny alongside two other fresh faces, Cole Mohr and Jeremy Young. Enjoy!

Another British Model Takes the Cake
June 29, 2009 by Brittany Dow
When you’re awarded a top position in the modelling world, it’s a pretty big deal. Especially when you’re the 22 year-old UK model, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. In early 2009 she was awarded Model of the Year at the Elle Style Awards, which is no small feat. According to the most recent issue of i-D magazine, Rosie is the ‘ model on everybody’s lips’. This doesn’t surprise me at all, considering she could be Gisele’s sister. This likeness is most likely what landed her a gig with Pirelli, where she’ll be posing side-by-side with her ‘twin’ in their upcoming calendar shoot.

Aside from being one of the many beautiful faces of Burberry or walking the runway for Victoria Secret, like most 22 year-olds she loves the simple things in life: hanging out in parks with friends, listening to Wonderwall by Oasis, reading, and eating ‘A LOT’.
Like Raquel Zimmermann, Rosie is one fresh face I’ll be keeping an eye on.

Kate Moss Looking Red Hot
June 29, 2009 by Brittany Dow
On June 22nd, the lovely Kate Moss wished Virgin Atlantic a sexy happy birthday in a stunning one-piece red jumper. It was the airlines 25th anniversary and she hopped on board with founder Sir Richard Branson, and other special guests including Vivienne Westwood. Kate acted as Branson’s ‘wing girl’ but more specifically, she dressed up as one of the ‘Virgin Flying Girls’ that you’ll find painted on the side of his planes.

Kate Moss and Sir Richard Branson are two personalities that mesh well together. Both are fun, sexy, and love to party. I can only imagine this was a celebration not to be missed, as they recreated Virgin’s first flight from London to Manhattan in 1984. The UK model seems to be the hot-date that every designer and CEO is after. How can you blame them? It’s clear that showing up with Kate on your arm is sure to get you in the spotlight.
